Dr. Greg Phillips has incorporated several highly effective sedation options into his practice for patients with dental phobia, including oral conscious and intravenous (IV) sedation. Using these sedation dentistry techniques at our LaPlace, LA-area practice, patients can remain at ease during treatment and receive the oral care they deserve in a relaxing environment. If you suffer from dental anxiety and would like more information about sedation dentistry, contact our office and schedule a consultation today.
Oral sedation is a safe and cost-effective alternative to IV sedation. Patients who choose oral sedation can rest through their entire appointment. During treatment, patients will be able to speak and respond to commands, but when they leave the office they will have little or no memory of the procedure. The effects will wear off in a few hours, and patients can return to their normal routine as soon as they feel ready.
With the help of a certified specialist, Dr. Phillips and his team can administer intravenous sedation to patients who desire a deeper state of relaxation. I.V. sedation places patients in a “twilight”, leaving them with no memory of their procedure. Patients who elect I.V. sedation will be encouraged to rest for the remainder of the day following their procedure, and can return to normal activities within 24 hours.
