Dr. Greg S. Phillips - DDS
Dr. Greg S. Phillips proudly followed in his father’s footsteps to become a second-generation dentist. A graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, he has been in practice for over 30 years and has built a broad clientele, based largely on referrals from satisfied patients. His practice now includes cosmetic, restorative, and comprehensive dentistry, with particular emphasis on tooth replacement with dental implants.
In the Fall of 2011, he added “best-selling author” to his resume, when the book he co-authored “More Than a Mouthful: America’s Leading Dentists Reveal How to Get Healthy and Stay Healthy By Taking Care of Your Teeth.” On the day of its release, it reached bestseller status in two Amazon.com categories: Medical/Dentistry and Medical/Dental Hygiene.
Over the years, Dr. Phillips has frequently updated his knowledge of cosmetic and restorative dentistry with continuing education courses and memberships in several highly respected dental organizations, including the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and the MISCH International Implant Institute. In addition to his fellowship at the ICOI, Dr. Phillips is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, and the New Orleans Dental Association.
Dr. Phillips strives to provide a comfortable atmosphere for his patients. Recognized as an expert in the area of dental office design, he has lectured extensively and authored numerous articles on the subject. Dr. Phillips has used this expertise to ensure that every patient has a pleasant dental experience at his office.
Dr. Lya Sharpley-Hixon - DMD
Dr. Lya Sharpley-Hixon is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. She earned her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology at University of Pittsburgh. She continued her studies there, earning her doctorate of dental medicine. Dr. Sharpley is a member of the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.
She has recently relocated to New Orleans and is excited to explore a new city! In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, baking, keeping up with pop culture, and spending time with her husband.
Dr. James Nelson - DDS
Dr. Nelson loves working with dental patients to create beautiful, healthy smiles they can feel confident in sharing. He’s been serving Louisiana residents since 2013, and he looks forward to continuing to provide outstanding, high-quality dentistry for years to come. A native of Baton Rouge, Dr. Nelson graduated from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge and went on to pursue his doctor of dental surgery at the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Additionally, Dr. Nelson is oral conscious sedation and Invisalign certified. He completed the Heartland Aesthetic Continuum and has studied at the Spear Institute in order to provide a wider range of high-quality dental services for every patient he treats. As an active member of the professional community, Dr. Nelson maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, New Orleans Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Nelson is happily married to his wife, Courtney. They have a cat named Lucy, and when time permits, he enjoys running, reading, and watching LSU and Saints games. Dr. Nelson also loves to play guitar, and he was in a cover band while in college.
Dr. Celeste Love - DMD
Dr. Celeste Love was born and raised outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Spanish Minor. After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Love received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Dental College of Georgia. She graduated in the top 20% of her dental class and received numerous awards for leadership and service.
During her time in dental school, Dr. Love was very involved in patient care and service. The organization she was president of raised funding for patients of the dental school who were in need. She has continued this passion for helping the underserved by volunteering at the Louisiana Mission of Mercy to provide free dental care. Dr. Love also enjoys giving back to the community through programs that benefit children. She volunteered with the Boys and Girls club in Georgia and is currently helping the teen Leaders Club with the YMCA.
Although Dr. Love is a Georgia native, she has embraced her new life in New Orleans. Since her move to the city last summer she has attended numerous festivals, celebrated Mardi Gras with lots of king cake and parades, and has eaten her fair share of crawfish. She looks forward to developing close and lasting relationships with her patients while providing the best care possible.
Dr. Samir Hamdan - DDS
Dr Samir Hamdan is a native of New Orleans. He graduated from University of New Orleans with Bachelors in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry and Psychology. Dr Hamdan went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in New Orleans at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. Dr Hamdan works with patients of all ages and especially with fear/anxiety. His mission is to give each patient the smile they deserve, and to care for his patients like family and listen to their needs in a caring and considerate manner.
Dr Hamdan believes in giving back to the community as he says “you never lose by giving.” Dr Hamdan has always volunteered as a dentist by participating in Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, which all provide free dental to the less fortunate. He believes in always expanding his dental education by staying current with new technology in the Dentistry. He is a member of Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, and New Orleans Dental Association.
Dr Hamdan enjoys the outdoors, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and exercising. His favorite quote is “love what you do and you will never work a day in your life”
Dr. Daniel Harris - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Daniel Harris is a Louisiana native and has practiced a full-scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the greater New Orleans area. He maintains privileges at East Jefferson General Hospital, West Jefferson Medical Center, Children’s Hospital and Interim Louisiana Hospital. He is a part-time staff member for the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at LSU. He achieved board certification from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 2013.
Dr. Harris graduated from the Louisiana State University where he was a 4 year member of the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State School of Dentistry in New Orleans in 2004. Dr. Harris also completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency through the U.S. Navy and deployed to Iraq as a Lieutenant in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006. After honorable discharge from the Navy, Dr. Harris completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fl. Despite close ties and respect for the Florida Gators, he still bleeds purple and gold!
Dr. Harris is a member of many professional organizations including the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, New Orleans Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Louisiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
In his free time, Dr. Harris enjoys spending time with his wife and children in Lakeview. They enjoy the lively music scene of New Orleans, sailboating in Lake Pontchartrain, and restoring classic automobiles.
Dr. Daniel Cummins - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Daniel Cummins, D.M.D., M.D. attended Virginia Tech University where he received a B.S. in Biochemistry, graduating Magna Cum Laude and elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then went on to obtain his Dental Medicine Doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 where he graduated with honors and was awarded several surgical and prosthodontics accolades. Following his time in Philadelphia, Dr. Cummins moved to New Orleans where he attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine earning his M.D. and completed an internship year in General Surgery. Dr. Cummins then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at LSU-HSC in New Orleans where he underwent advanced training in facial trauma, reconstruction, head and neck pathology, TMJ surgery, sleep apnea, corrective jaw surgery and cosmetic facial surgery.
Dr. Cummins holds both medical and dental licenses in the State of Louisiana. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also an associate professor involved in training surgery residents at LSU. He practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with a particular interest in orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, dental implants and sleep apnea correction surgery.
When not working Dr. Cummins enjoys traveling, skiing, fishing, running and the food and music of New Orleans.
Dr. Darren Miller - Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
Dr. Darren K. Miller is a native of the Houma, Louisiana area. After graduating from high school with all honors, he attended Nicholls State University, where he received an Associates Degree in Allied Health Sciences and a Bachelors Degree in Allied Health Sciences. Dr. Miller also worked as a paramedic for Acadian Ambulance Services while pursuing his undergraduate degree. At LSU School of Dentistry, Dr. Miller graduated at the top of his class, receiving multiple awards for for outstanding dental work. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Miller completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Miller and his wife have two young daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and traveling. Dr. Miller and his family enjoy being active in the community and meeting new people.
